Frequently Asked Questions About Festival Wristbands
What are festival wristbands?
Festival wristbands are high-quality, custom-designed fabric wristbands used at a wide variety of events for access control, age verification, indicating privileges, re-entry checks, and as carriers for RFID chips (e.g., for cashless payments at festivals and events).
What is the difference between woven and printed festival wristbands?
Woven festival wristbands are the highest-quality wristbands available, and when combined with our patented clasps, they are the most secure admission wristbands. Instead of printing on a backing material, the festival wristband is produced on a highly specialized loom by weaving together threads and yarns of different colors to create your custom design. Printed festival wristbands are the more affordable option and work well for designs with color gradients; however, they are of lower overall quality and do not feel as premium as woven wristbands. Printed admission wristbands with an economy clasp are suitable for events where security and the risk of tampering are less of a concern.
What templates are needed to customize the design of the festival wristbands?
Please send us your templates by e-mail to. Requirements for your templates:
1. file format JPG, PDF, EPS, AI or CDR (all for PC)
2. Resolution of at least 300 DP
Before production, you will receive a digital proof by e-mail for checking and production approval.

How many colors can I use?
With woven festival wristbands, it is possible to weave up to 8 colors onto your wristband. Over 200 different yarn colors are available for reproducing logo and company colors.
There are no restrictions on the number of colors for printed festival wristbands.
How much do Heliotextil's festival wristbands cost in Germany?
We’ll be happy to provide you with prices at short notice upon request via email. The minimum order quantity is 300 pieces. Prices depend mainly on the order quantity, the design, and, if applicable, the number of different designs. We’d be happy to send you a non-binding quote via email.
How long can you wear the fabric lanyard?
The woven festival wristband was designed for events lasting several days. It is extremely comfortable to wear, durable, and tear-resistant. It is machine-washable up to 60 °C, and the ends are machine-sealed to prevent fraying.
Who uses Heliotextil festival wristbands?
In addition to music festivals and VIP areas, our festival wristbands are also very popular at various sporting events (such as tennis tournaments, soccer stadiums, Formula 1 races, the Alpine Ski World Cup, major events like the European Soccer Championships, etc.), hospitality areas, amusement parks, charity events, high school graduation balls, corporate parties, trade shows, conventions, fire department festivals, and events of all kinds.
What kind of references does Heliotextil have?
Heliotextil supplies well-known German and international clients in the event industry, music festivals (ranging from small local festivals to medium-sized ones and major international music festivals), several cashless system providers, the sports events industry, the apparel industry, and the advertising industry with festival wristbands, RFID wristbands, and other event products.
Why are there so many different types of fasteners for fabric festival wristbands?
When textile wristbands were first introduced in Scandinavia in the early 2000s as a means of access control for music festivals and other events, these festival wristbands were still fitted with aluminum eyelets, which had to be crimped together with special clamping pliers after the wristband was placed on the visitor’s wrist.
Through years of field testing and customer feedback, we developed self-closing quick-release fasteners. The market response to this innovation was extraordinary, as our SmartLock and SlideLock fasteners (featuring an internal locking mechanism made of high-quality steel) offer the compelling advantages of a woven fabric entry strap without the need for additional fastening devices. We secured this invention with several international utility models and patents. In the years that followed, additional self-closing festival wristband fasteners came onto the market, such as our Economy Lock, which is made entirely of plastic (including the internal mechanism). Although the Economy Lock is cheaper to produce, it is less tamper-resistant.
Another type of closure is our sustainable wooden closure, a two-part hybrid closure made of wood and plastic, with the plastic content reduced by 50%. We will be happy to advise you on which type of closure is the most suitable for you and best meets your requirements.
What closure colors are available for festival wristbands?
Our standard closure color for self-closing closures is black. We are also happy to offer other closure colors for a small surcharge. It is also possible to dye the closure colors according to Pantone specifications.
What is an RFID wristband? Learn more ->
An RFID system consists of a transponder (RFID tag), which is pre-attached to the festival wristband and contains a unique code, as well as a reader used to read this code.
RFID works with weak electromagnetic waves that are emitted by a reader. If a transponder is brought within range of this antenna, information can be read from the transponder’s memory without contact or data can be stored on it.
The customizable RFID wristband tags do not have their own power source and draw their energy directly from the reader’s energy field. This means that the passive chip transmits only a number (ID) when it is actively triggered by an external device (reader) in close proximity.
Reading ranges depend heavily on the size of the transponder, the frequency, and the antenna. Our pre-applied RFID tags on the festival wristbands feature NFC (near-field communication) chips. NFC is a specialized form of RFID technology designed for short distances (up to 5 cm) and secure data transmission.
Why not use NFC-enabled smartphones instead of RFID wristbands?
On the one hand, not all event attendees have an NFC-enabled smartphone. On the other hand, smartphones require power (unlike the RFID tags in RFID wristbands), and charging options for smartphones at events are very limited. Apart from the practical considerations mentioned above, for security and data integrity reasons, an RFID system may require that the transponder or chip be permanently attached to the user’s wrist.
What about data security?
We guarantee that no data or surplus stock from the festival wristbands you ordered from us will be released into circulation, and we assure you that your data will be handled with the utmost care at every stage of the manufacturing process.
Is there a possibility that Heliotextil might sponsor our event?
Yes, if we place our promotional text discreetly along the edge of your festival wristband, we’ll give you a 10% discount on the price of the wristbands.
What are the delivery times?
Delivery times depend on the order quantity and production capacity; they are typically about 2–3 weeks from the date the final proof is confirmed, with shipment from Vienna. Rush production is available upon request.
As a German customer, do I have to pay customs duties or Austrian VAT on the festival wristbands from Heliotextil?
For shipments within the EU single market—for example, from Austria to Germany—no customs duties apply. Provided you have a valid VAT ID number and provide it to us, we are not required to charge the 20% Austrian VAT.
